Who Killed Wellington

Didn't I promised you more substantial posts in my previous major self-love non-sense post here?

Well, this is my substantial form of SUBSTANTIAL - to rant about books.

Just a few weeks ago, I finally got my first Mark Haddon lovie (which was one of the maaaaany birthday gifts I got from the sweetest boyfriend in the whole universe) and in less than a week, I was amazed at how I was able to finish it in such a breeze of time despite the fact that I was being busy with domestic chores, paper works and IV Therapist thingummies.

Haddon hasn't disappointed me (the way Patterson did in his novel Sundays at Tiffany's). I mean, Patterson's was so generic, y'know? The storyline, the climax and the twist was just so cliched and expected. I do not mean to compare them two amazing writers, it's just that... I've had high expectations from Patterson and I kind of feel bad that I ended up not liking something I expected to be great.

Anyhoo, on to Haddon now!

The book really was like a comic book and a drama series in one. In th first half of the book, I find myself throwing fits of squirmy laughter from Haddon's humor and I marveled at how good he was in maths! In the second half, I couldn't help but wipe my tears as they symphatize for Christopher's horror at finding out who Wellington's killer was, that his mother was alive, that he had to gather all his wits to go to London alone and how a mother's love will always prevail. But What really made me cry was the part when Christopher's father didn't gave up on him when his son thought he was evil and would refuse to be in the same roof with him.

The following photos are some of my favorite parts of the book.

silence but not empty. I hope all types of silence is like that - not empty.
at one point or another, I'm sure we all were stuck in this situation
HEAR! HEAR!
but of course! That's why there are things called wishes and dreams, right?
I REALLY FIND THIS FUNNY! HAHA! =D Christoher has a point!
EXACTLY EXACTLY EXACTLY!

I tell you guys, if you haven't read The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time yet, IT'S HIGH TIME YOU DO!!! One of the greatest and most poignantly hilarious books I've ever read!

Hit the nearest bookshop now and grab your own copy and just a piece of unsolicited advice: NEVER LET YOUR FRIENDS BORROW IT! Hahaha! This book is just sooo precious your shelves would weep if you'd lost it!

mwahs and tsups,
EU.
